Berries are a great food for children
Berries aren't just packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants needed for good health. Most children also love the sweet taste - and better still, for busy mums, berries need little preparation and so can be considered the ultimate fast food.
Berries can be introduced to a baby's diet during weaning, which should start no earlier than six months. In the early stages, you'll need to puree berries and then sieve the puree to remove any seeds. Once your baby gets used to more solid food you can simply mash them with a fork.
Berries also make great finger foods for toddlers and are great for adding to school lunchboxes or offering as a snack. When pureed, they also make a healthy, fruity topping for ice cream and are perfect swirled into natural yoghurt.
