You are ITV’s longest standing weather presenter. What is your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of my job is when I give good weather news to the audience. If I was able to choose the Weather I would forecast rainfall by night, pleasant sunshine by day!

What made you decide you wanted to be a weather presenter? How have you got to where you are today?

I’ve always loved the weather, especially the variety we get here in the British Isles. But I trained as a News journalist with the BBC. In this capacity, I produced a half hour programme on extreme weather for the Met Office, got on very well with them and was invited to screen-test with ITV, did so, and got the job. I think I was the only one who could remember two minutes worth of script without drying up!

What are the highlights of your career to date?

I’ve won Best Weather Presenter at the TRIC Awards twice and even Rear of the Year once! I also won Best Weather Presenter in the World in Paris some ten years ago. But most of all, I love the fact I can use it as a platform to do lots of different charity work.

Do you follow a healthy diet?

Fairly healthy diet. I always eat a big bowl of cereal for brekkie, with lots of berries – blueberries and raspberries mostly, strawberries in the summer.

I love cooking and love eating even more! My downfall is my sweet tooth – no meal is complete for me without a pudding. And I eat way too much chocolate.

But on the whole I’m not too bad. My diet is a balanced one and I always eat fresh food, never ready-made meals or processed food.

Eating lots of fruit and vegetables have been proven by some reports to leave you feeling fitter and full of energy – have you noticed this when following a healthy diet?

The more fruit and veg I eat, the better I feel. My energy increases. I swim quite a lot and love eating a big veg curry or a roasted veg baked potato afterwards. I also drink lots of freshly squeezed juices, which I adore.

You spent some time in the Jungle for I’m a celebrity – what was the food like there?

We ate very well in the jungle because of having Anthony Worrall Thompson with us! I think we were the luckiest gang of all. He made feasts out of mere morsels. Even so, I lost lots of weight and my jeans were hanging off me when I came out. The constant portions of beans got to be a bit boring though.

Are you a fan of berries? What is your favourite berry?

I LOVE berries. My favourite pud is Summer Pudding, cram-packed with every berry available. I also love blackberries. They remind me of my childhood when I used to pick them with my grandad. I try and have berries of some sort every single day.

What is your favourite way to serve berries?

I adore blackberry and apple crumble with lashings of thick cream. And for me, my morning cereal is never complete without a portion of berries. I also LOVE raspberry pavalova.
