Berries can boost fluid intakes to help skin stay hydrated

Berries can boost fluid intakes to help skin stay hydrated

Water is essential for life so it’s no surprise that when we get dehydrated our health suffers and we’re more likely to experience tiredness, poor concentration and headaches. Staying hydrated is therefore important if we want to stay healthy.

But when it comes to taking care of your skin, water is one of the best beauty products you can get for glowing, hydrated skin that looks plump and feels smooth and soft. Even when we’re mildly dehydrated, our skin can appear dry, saggy and lose some of its elasticity.

An easy way to test if you are  dehydrated is to pinch the skin on the back of our hand and see how long it takes to return to its normal position. When we’re dehydrated, it takes longer for the skin to recover. Staying hydrated is therefore one of the best things we can do for healthy looking skin.

Drinking plenty of fluids such as water regularly throughout the day will help us stay hydrated. But certain foods also contribute to our fluid intake. Berries contain around 85% – 90% water and so can make an important contribution to our fluid intakes.

You only have to pop them into a blender and whiz for 30 seconds to see just how easily berries can boost our intake of fluid in a delicious, refreshing way.
